Zia Systems recognized at NASTT No-Dig Conference

Springfield, OH— The North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT) recently presented Zia Systems, LLC with the inaugural Joseph L. Abbott Jr. Innovative Product Award at the annual No-Dig show in Washington D.C. Founded in 1990, NASTT is a national, not-for-profit educational and technical society, dedicated to promoting the benefits of trenchless technology in the pipeline rehabilitation industry.

Zia Systems, LLC, an Ohio start-up company, was the recipient of the award for its newly developed technology for real-time monitoring of temperature readings throughout a pipeline during a Cured-in-Place-Pipe (CIPP) lining process. Zia’s innovative technology benefits contractors, engineers and municipalities by ensuring the quality of the pipeline curing process.

NASTT annually recognizes a company with state-of-the-art products in pipeline rehabilitation for their achievements in advancing the trenchless industry. In October 2010, NASTT re-named these prestigious awards in honor of the late Joseph L. Abbott, Jr.  Zia’s CEO, Jack Conte, said that “it is an honor to win this award, not only because of the recognition by industry experts, but because Joseph Abbott was a friend and colleague, who was instrumental in promoting NASTT and the trenchless pipeline rehabilitation industry since its inception.”

Zia Systems, LLC is a high-tech small business specializing in integrating wired and wireless sensor technologies that allows customers to remotely monitor and control assets. Located in the Central State University’s NET Incubator at the Next Edge Technology Park in Springfield, Ohio, Zia has gained support from the Dayton Region Entrepreneurial Signature Program (ESP), an early-stage fund supported by the Ohio Third Frontier and local investors. Zia’s technology is used by contractors, who use a pipeline rehabilitation process called Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) lining, to help ensure that the resin-based lining is properly cured and the pipelines have been properly sealed.

The system eliminates much of the guesswork that is typical during CIPP processing and helps ensure proper curing all along the pipe, can reduce the cost of fuel, labor and equipment, and eliminate the manual recording of temperature reading by individuals.
