Dayton, OH – The Dayton Development Coalition’s Entrepreneurial Signature Program (ESP), funded through the Ohio Third Frontier and local investors, recently awarded an investment to Zia Systems, a Springfield, Ohio, company located at Central State University’s NET Incubator

Zia Systems has developed a real time location system using RFID that will be used for tracking location, temperature, and pressure data for sewer pipes. This technology will allow for accurate monitoring of damaged pipes, which are difficult to track without the costly expense of digging up large amounts of ground to cure the sewer pipes.

The investment from the Entrepreneurial Signature Program (ESP) will assist the company with modifying prototypes, testing, and enhancing the tracking software. Christina Howard, Vice-President of Entrepreneurial Development, said, “We are excited about the prospects for Zia’s technology, as an aging underground infrastructure throughout the US has been a focus of Federal Stimulus funding, and we believe Zia has a product that will bring high value to the construction industry and its governmental customers."

Since November 2007, the Entrepreneurial Signature Program has provided financial assistance to 32 companies. In addition, 162 Dayton Region companies have received assistance with business plan and strategy development through advisory services offered by the Coalition’s ESP.
